Recipe: Saltine Toffee Bark

A successful experiment adapted from something my mother used to make...


16 saltine crackers
1/2 Cup butter
1/2 Cup brown sugar
1 oz unsweetened baker's chocolate


Line an 8" square pan with aluminum foil. Lay saltines in rows, covering the bottom of the pan. In a saucepan, bring butter, brown sugar, and chocolate to a boil. Continue to boil for 2 more minutes, stirring constantly. Pour over crackers. Bake at 400 degrees for 5 minutes. Remove from oven. Cool for 10 minutes. Place pan in refrigerator until completely cool. Remove foil from back of bark and break into pieces. Serves 16.
